New talents are being discovered every day at Nacogdoches High School, and Antonio "Nio" Ajero is a perfect example of an incredible one.
Nio is a gifted pianist who has been playing piano for about 12 years.
This kind of skill runs in the family, because Antonio’s father and sister are also pianists, and his first teacher was his dad.
Being talented is one thing, but one also has to be hard-working to perfect his or her talent, and that is exactly what Nio does. He devotes three hours a day to practicing piano and keeps getting better. It all pays off when he takes the stage.
“I love the opportunities to perform for others,” Nio said.
So far he has performed in different venues such as SFA Cole Concert Hall, Aspen’s Harris Concert Hall, Cremona Ita'ly’s Museo del Violino and also First United Methodist Church, in Nacogdoches. He has been featured on National Public Radio, as well.
Not only America, but also other countries have had the opportunity to see Nio’s talent.
Two years ago he went to Italy for a piano and strings camp at Cremona International Music Academy. There Nio performed solo and in chamber groups with other string players.
But piano is not Nio’s only talent.
“I used to be a saxophone player in the Mike Moses Band under direction of Mr. Weems, and I sing in the FUMC choir,” he said.
Nio often performs at SFA Cole Concert Hall and sings at FUMC Church.
