NHS Sophomore Cody Gill has only been shooting photography for a year, but his work has caught the eye of professional photographers and community members who appreciate his skill and attention to detail.
Cody’s photographs are featured on his web site at Codygillphotograph.wixsite.com/gill , as well as on the Nacogdoches High School Yearbook Instagram and Facebook pages.
“I use a Canon 77d and kit lenses to get those spot-on pictures,” he said. “He pays careful attention to the exposure and the subject.”
Cody sells his photos and conducts private sessions, so in addition to being a fun hobby – his photography is also a business.
The cost of his sessions depends on location and the length of time he spends with his clients.
“My favorite thing to shoot is Sports,” Cody said. “I love football and soccer, because of all the action.”
Cody had a booth at the Nacogdoches Art Fest in September where he sold nine canvasses featuring some of his best work.
His personal favorite is a photo he took of the American flag waving in the sky.
“In the photo, everything is black and white - but not the flag,” he said. “The flag is popping red.”
Cody wants to pursue photography professionally in the future and become a sports photographer.
Some advice he has for people who want to become photographers is,” Keep trying and get lots of exposure for your photos.’’
